Sancta Maria College - Dublin
Sancta Maria College is an all girls Catholic voluntary secondary school under the trusteeship of CEIST. The school is situated in Ballyroan, Dublin 16, Ireland. The school is governed by a Board of Management. Gerardine Kennedy is the Principal and there are 490 students along with 38 teachers.
In 2010, Sancta Maria is a thriving secondary College with about 520 students. A few years ago, grounds around the school were sold by the Sisters of Mercy to the local Ballyboden St. Enda’s G.A.A. Club on the basis that St. Enda’s would develop the grounds with pitches for the use of the students of Sancta Maria. This partnership has resulted in attractive state-of-the-art pitches for the use of Sancta Maria. A proud history of achievement in sport is continued with the College participating in inter-school competitions in football both gaelic and soccer, camogie, basketball, badminton, hockey, tennis and athletics.
The College hosts a vibrant list of activities, both co-curricular and extracurricular. The annual Transition Year musical is of extremely high standard.
Students participate in the Dublin Secondary School Choir, in debating (both as bearla and as gaeilge), drama, public speaking, Young Scientist Competition, Young Entrepreneur etc.
The Sisters of Mercy have gone and have left a legacy in the tradition of Catherine McAuley: This is important: Spiritual values; the education of young women; compassion for everyone but especially for the most vulnerable among us.
